Efficiency Degradation – Synthetic medias carry an electrostatic charge that aids in increasing the filter efficiency. The problem of efficiency degradation arises when the electrostatic charged media fibers become covered with particulate and the electrostatic charge dissipates – causing a dramatic drop in the filter efficiency. ASHRAE is currently considering an amendment to their test standard to incorporate a step to emulate this phenomenon.
Tri-Dim, in response to this phenomenon, developed the Syn-Pac XLII Bag Filter that offers the advantages of synthetic medias but does not suffer from efficiency degradation. Tri-Dim has had this filter tested under the proposed ASHRAE 52.2 test and the results showed an 80-85% Filter performing as MERV 14 or higher – as advertised. Efficiency Results you can count on – Syn-Pac XLII
